Biography

BioPicAlex has been the technical guru and founding partner since DS1 Design‘s inception. Over the past 10+ years he has been the architect for, and manager of all infrastructure, services and client applications for the company. His expertise and in-depth knowledge of the software, internet and e-business industry is a valuable asset to every project that is delivered. Alex has also gained a wealth of experience consulting on a variety of web based marketing, e-learning, web content management, e-commerce and multimedia solutions for several Fortune 500 companies including Imperial Oil, CIBC, Aeroplan, TELUS, GSK, Chrysler, Ford and many more.

He was not always with DS1 Design, for a period of time he was a Senior Business Analyst at Maritz Canada Inc., with a U.S. based parent company, whose Canadian revenues exceeded $160MM.

Alex assumed complete control of DS1 Design in 2011 and has grown the revenues significantly year over year ever since. During this time the company expanded to Barrie where he works in conjunction with and supports the Georgian College co-operative education program. Alex is also now actively involved as a mentor in the Futurpreneur program for young entrepreneurs.

Alex studied Multimedia Design and Production at Humber College (graduated with Honours in 2000) as well as Systems Analysis, Design and Programming at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology at York University. In addition he has completed several other technical professional development courses, including Microsoft Commerce and SQL Server training.

Alex was awarded “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce in 2004, a fantastic achievement after only a few short years in business.

When he is not in front of his monitors he can be found doing a variety of activities including sailing – Alex placed 3rd in his double-handed division in the 2013 Lake Ontario 300. Skiing – he worked at Blackcomb as a level 2 instructor and level 1 race coach. Keeping fit – he achieved a Black Belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate in 2011 after 5+ years of training. Scuba Diving – he is qualified as an advanced open water diver and has dove extensively throughout Ontario and the Caribbean logging over 3000+ minutes of bottom time. In addition there is still time for kite-surfing, mountain-biking or flying Cessna aircraft – no he doesn’t jump out of them anymore, but achieved his Private Pilot license in 2014 and is currently working on a night rating.
